We took a field trip yesterday with our T.O.B.Y. CO-OP to Natural History / Art Museum... I will be going into further detail of this as we are able to study more of what we saw... There was so much to take in, and this little smilebox really does not do it justice... Just wanted to share our day, and remind myself to further study more of what we saw :D
Here Jacob is notebooking about the African Rounder Roof Ornament... The architect of this time was round houses, and would remain for over a century!
You can see it at the top of the house...
This was the Claude Monet art work that both Halea and Jacob studied last week. It had a fancy alarm that sounded if we got to close ;D
So pretty (so is the picture :D )
This was a beautiful sculpture from the Asian Display...
This was from the African Display... kitchen ware...
again from the Asian...
This is something I want to study more for myself... from a round church in Ethiopia... such vibrant colors...
Do you see the door frame from this African village home? Hand carved, and very well preserved...
This is just a few highlights, I'll share more later :D I am interested to find out more about what each of them want to further study... :D
I am super exited because my DH picked up a blue ray dvd player this weekend, (our old one died) and it connects to the internet.. somehow... and I can view my
Picasa pictures on the tv... which means great in home picture study!!! Yay!
A BIG Thanks to Miss Michelle, for researching this and putting this field trip together :D

V is for Veggies... (Vegetable Garden)
Here is our book list for veggies:
- The Vegetables We Eat
- Peas and Potatoes
- The Smiling Salad
- Lilly's Garden
- Who's in our Garden
We will have a smiling salad for lunch one day :D
Bean Sprout Experiment... getting ready for our spring garden...
and we will make a seed necklace... and when the seed sprouts, we will transplant it ;D
Seed Size
Review the seeds on our “we are planting the seeds” page. Seeds come in many different sizes from tiny carrot seeds to large bean seeds. Noah will have an assortment of seeds and compare the different sizes. Talk about ( with a few the real vegetables on hand) how each seed will grow into a vegetable that is much larger than the seed itself. I think this may help show with a hands on project greatness of Yah and His creation.
We will also do seed counts and graph for math :D After we are familiar with a few of the seeds, I will say 5 carrots seeds, 3 cucumber... etc... then he can count out and graph them :D
March is national youth art month... so I will let Noah create a small seed mosaic. (not to many though... because we want to plant them :D)
We will also do a
vegetable lapbook from homeschool share.
(it is suppose to be a red bell pepper =D )
I plan to let the children help me make a vegetable soup... here is a
recipe we may try :D
We will also try to
dry seeds to replant in the fall...
He has had fun with these printables... I printed and laminated (with contact paper) and he tells me stories about these little "veggie fellows."
We will read from Gen. 27 from Bible... it is the story of Jacob and Esau.
Did you realize that vegetable soup is mentioned all the way back in Genesis, the very first book of the Bible? (“Red stew,” as some versions refer to it, is
lentil soup). What did Jacob do wrong? What should Jacob have done? What about Esau?
Our memory verse comes from Gen. 1:29 "Then Yahweh said, I give you every seed bearing plant ... they will be yours for food..."
Stay tuned for all our "v" fun this week :D

Learn for Life!
We are learning for life, not for school!
Education is a progressive discovery of our own ignorance. ~Will Durant
"He is educated who can find out what he does not know." ~George Simmel (1875)
"Let My teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants." ~Deut. 32:2
“Listen to Me, you who know righteousness, you people in whose heart is My law: Do not fear the reproach of men, nor be afraid of their insults. For the moth will eat them up like a garment, and the worm will eat them like wool; but My righteousness will be forever, and My salvation from generation to generation.” ~Isa 51:7-8
